In a remarkable display of community spirit, Estes Park residents have come together to support Betty and Joe Edwards, the owners of Scratch Deli and Bakery, after a devastating house fire left them with nothing.
Having moved to Estes Park just eight months ago, the Edwardses quickly became cherished members of the local business community. Their deli and bakery became a favorite among locals and visitors alike. However, tragedy struck when their home was completely destroyed by fire, leaving them without possessions or a place to live.
Upon hearing of the Edwardses’ plight, the Estes Park community sprang into action. Neighbors, customers, and fellow business owners organized fundraisers, provided temporary housing, and donated essential items to help the couple rebuild their lives. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming, showcasing the tight-knit nature of this mountain town.
Brian Schaffer, Executive Director of the Crossroads Assistance Ministry, emphasized the community’s commitment to helping those in need. “In times of crisis, Estes Park residents always come together to support one another. It’s heartwarming to see everyone rallying around Betty and Joe during this difficult time,” he said.
The Edwardses have expressed profound gratitude for the kindness and generosity they’ve received. “We are truly touched by the support from our new friends and neighbors. This community has shown us the true meaning of compassion and solidarity,” said Betty Edwards.
As the Edwardses work to rebuild their home and lives, the Estes Park community continues to stand by them, embodying the spirit of unity and resilience that defines this town.
